First of the three forthcoming movies starring Vikram has now been named "Kandasamy" to be directed by Susi Ganesan. Kalaipuli Dhanu will be the producer.
Shriya will play opposite Vikram. Katrina Kaif, who was earlier tipped for the role, has opted out. The reason for her back-out is attributed to her demanding a high pay.
Ekambaram will be the cinematographer and Devi Sri Prasad will score the music for "Kandasamy", which will hit the floors as soon as the long-pending Vikram-starrer "Bheema" is completed.
"Bheema", directed by Lingusamy, has run into trouble from the beginning. The shooting has come to a grinding halt after producer A.M. Ratnam had a financial crunch. The completion of the film has been delayed by over one year now and as a result Vikram was missed by his fans in 2006 with no other film starring the Cheeyan hitting the screens during the year.
The financial and other problems which dogged "Bheema" have now been sorted out and the shooting commenced in Chennai recently. An action-packed entertainer, "Bheema" features Trisha and Prakash Raj.
Vikram had his last release, "Majaa", in 2005. He has expressed the hope that "Bheema" would be completed early.
Finding Vikram stuck in limbo, Kalaipuli Dhanu took the initiative to bring him and Susi Ganesan together for his venture, "Kandasamy". Susi has won State awards for his movies "Five Star" and "Virumbugiraen".
Besides "Kandasamy", Vikram has also agreed to do two other films - one for producer Mohan Natarajan and the other under the direction of Selvaraghavan to be produced by S. Ramesh Babu of Kanakarathna Movies.
