Yester year sultry siren Silk as she was commonly known couldn't have faded from the minds of her fans. Smitha was referred to as Silk after her famous role in the film Vandi Chakaram. She redefined the definition for item girls crossing the boundaries of titillation into histrionics.

Her acting skills came in for recognition from critics for her performance in films like Moondram Pirai and Kozhi Koovuthu. She died a few years back after a tumultuous personal life. This bomb of an actress is now back on celluloid in the film Thangathaamarai, which was incidentally the last film she acted in, before her death. This film was stuck in the cans for a while but has now got a new lease of life and is ready for release. Her fans seem excited about the release of her film and it is noteworthy that in these days, when you only hear of huge loyal fan following for male stars, for a yesteryear actress to have fans long after her death is a feat in itself.
